Thur, C TO: Social Networking Team FROM: Christina Thur SUBJECT: Social Networking Focus Group Report DATE: March 22, 2010
Here is my report on a focus group I ran with 3 females and 2 males who attend college. Our discussion focused on what concerns they have regarding business having access to Facebook, if they are a member of any group/fan club or view as solicitation and consider this feature to be a setback, and what mobile devices do they use to access Facebook. I was able to cover three of the five questions developed by our team. Most participants reported they are concerned with the business admission to have access k, are not bothered by the groups or fan club’s offered, and mostly via mobile phone. Focus Group Rationale
Today, Facebook boasts 100 million active users in Social networking. However, social networking sites continue to grow and the competition continues to evolve. Therefore, knowing Gen-Y’s general opinion on Facebook, and if they agree with the direction Facebook’s pursued, is imperative. Our focus group’s main focal point is to determine if Gen-Y will continue using Facebook, what features are most prominent, and how they primarily use the site. By uncovering these answers will help us advise Proximity clients how to maintain Facebook’s status (being the number one social networking site being accessed) and how they can maintain their credibility. Setting and Participants
The 45 minute session was held (in my house on Friday, March 13, 2010. The male participants were:) · Tony, 21, a Florida State. Criminal justice major; · Benet, 22, a College Park. senior physic major; · Carissa, 22, a College Park, business major; · Kristen, 21, a Villa Julie. elementary education major · Molly, 21, a Salisbury, elementary education major.
